DULUTH, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran baseball team saw its season come to a close Saturday, as the Vikings fell to top-seeded St. Scholastica, 8-0, on Championship Saturday of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament. BLC would have had to beat the host Saints twice to take home the conference title.
Danny Kneeland (Windom, Minn.) led the Vikings with two singles in the contest.
John Brown (Lake City, Minn.),
Jordan Grams (Mankato, Minn.),
Brandyn Olsen (Blue Earth, Minn.), and
Trent Saharek (San Clemente, Calif.) each had a hit in the efforts against the Saints. Junior
Hunter Hamers (Foley, Minn.) started on the hill for Bethany Lutheran. The left-hander suffered the loss, as he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up five earned runs.
The Vikings finished the 2017 baseball season with an overall record of 22-19 and 12-4 conference mark.
