MANKATO, Minn.  – The Bethany women's basketball team (2-0) defeated Central College (1-1) in a closely-contested game, 79-72.
 
The Vikings came into this game with a win already under their belt, looking to start the year with momentum. The Vikings took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Dutch by 11. Their defense was a big reason for that, as they recorded 14 steals in the game.
 
The Dutch were led by senior Jackie Kriegel, scoring 23 points and grabbing eight rebounds. She helped the Dutch stay close to the Vikings. It was the play by junior Haley Sandin and freshman Hanna Geistfeld that carried the Vikings to victory scoring 22 points each.
 
Up Next: The Vikings travel to Madison, South Dakota to play Dakota State on Tuesday, Nov. 21 starting at 5:30 PM.
