Vikings Compete in St. Paul
Â
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethany Men's Track and Field team competed at Macalester College in the Bolstorff Twilight Meet on Thursday night. Braving the cold and rainy conditions the men trudged out and gave a good effort.
Â
Stefan Prince continues to impress, as he broke his school record in the 400m with a run of 51.09. "He still has a lot to learn when it comes to how he can run the 400m most effectively, but I can be sure when I say he has been continuing to get better with his mechanics thru the final 200m of the race," stated head coach Michael Dunn.
Â
Michael Bless ran a personal best 400m (53.60) that puts him number eight on the all-time list. "His development this season has been tremendous and as he continues to get stronger it will be fun to see him develop into a very good athlete."
Â
In the 1500m
Owen Richardson ran his second fastest 1500m time of his career (4:29.76) in rough conditions.Â
David Luehring ran his best 1500m time of his life (4:32.98). "These two put a lot of effort into this race and have done a great job of using this week as a speed training week to get ready for conference next weekend. They both exceeded my expectations in this race and I look forward to seeing what they can do at the UMAC championships."
Â
Tristan Kroll had a huge day in the 400m hurdles (1:03.16), as he dropped six seconds from last week's opener at Carleton. Tristan moves to number eight on the all-time 400m hurdle list "It is amazing what Tristan was able to do only 5 days after his first 400m hurdle race. I am very proud of how he ran the entire race and as his form continues to improve, so will his time."
Â
In the Discus,Â
Christian Rank and
Josh Grove both had personal record throws. Rank threw the discus 25.42m and jumps to number nine on the all-time list. Grove threw the discus 26.68m and now becomes number seven on the all-time list. "It is incredible with how poor the throwing conditions were tonight, but these two showed a lot of heart and effort. The two of them had a lot of focus tonight and it's nice to see them put aside the rough conditions and just go throw."
Â
"Today was a meet that was all about guts and effort. The weather never let up throughout the evening, but our athletes did a nice job at staying focused on their events. When weather doesn't cooperate it is easy to become unsettled and let it affect your event, but for the most part our athletes focused on the little things tonight and were able to get a good meet in."
Â
The next time the men's team will be competing all together, will be next Friday and Saturday (May 6th-7th) at the UMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Morris, Minn.
