Mankato, Minn. – Four Bethany softball players were recognized for their achievements this season earning Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) honors.
Sophomore Gena Chester (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) and junior Ashley Jensen (Delano, Minn./West Lutheran) were awarded UMAC First Team All-Conference. Jensen was also named to the UMAC All-Defensive Team.
Jensen led the team offensively with a .375 batting average throughout the season. She had seven doubles, one triple and one home run. She totaled 30 hits, 18 runs and 13 RBI. Jensen had a .458 batting average against conference opponents which ranked her fifth in the UMAC. She also had the fifth best on base percentage in the conference at .508. Jensen had a .915 fielding percentage during conference play.
Chester, who played in left field, had one error during conference play and hit a .352 batting average. This season she totaled 40 hits, 12 were doubles and three were home runs. As the lead off hitter Chester scored 24 runs and had 14 RBI.
Junior Emily Rauchman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) and senior Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) each earned UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention.
All of Bethany’s games were pitched by either Rauchman or Edmison. Edmison logged eight wins and had a 5.54 season ERA while Rauchman had six wins and a 5.47 ERA. Both were also talented at the plate. Edmison totaled 40 hits during the season recording a .325 batting average. She had 11 doubles, four home runs and led the team in RBIs with 26. She had a .362 batting average during conference play. Rauchman batted .400 in UMAC games and .315 throughout the whole season. She led the team in home runs with five. Rauchman had 12 doubles and 25 RBI.
The Vikings fished fifth in the conference, one spot out of advancing to the UMAC Post-Season Tournament. Bethany ended the season 14-25 overall and 10-13 in the conference.
