Mankato, Minn. – The Bethany men’s basketball team participated in the school’s Relay for Life event that raised $5,400 for the America Cancer Society.
 
The Vikings put together a ‘BLC Hoops’ team captained by junior guard Pat Garvin (Jackson, Minn./Jackson County Central). ‘BLC Hoops’ had roughly 15 to 20 members and raised over $600 in funds.
 
“Relay for Life was a great opportunity to raise money for the fight against cancer not just for our BLC hoops team but for others as well,” Garvin said. “Thanks to everyone who donated and supported this great cause. It was fun night for us. Also, hats off to the BLC colleges against cancer committee as they did a great job running the event.”
 
First year head coach David Balza has increased the men’s basketball team’s community and campus involvement in just a short time.
 
“We made a point to be involved and give back to the community and our guys have done a nice job being in on that all year long,” Balza said. “The players did a great putting together a team and raising money and we want thank everyone who contributed.”
