Aberdeen, S.D. – The women’s basketball team held the lead to defeat the Presentation Saints on the road 69-64.
After leading by 10 at halftime the Vikings let Presentation get back within one point with a little over two minutes left in the game. The Vikes remained composed sinking important free throws to solidify the win. Bethany shot 40.9 percent from the field while the Saints shot 38.1 percent from the field. The team worked hard on the boards outrebounding Presentation 48-36.
Four Viking players scored in double figures with Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) recording her second double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Anna Cepek (Aurora, Neb./Aurora) had 14 points and five rounds. Jade Pelzl (Rushford, Minn./UW-Eau Claire) had 13 points. Jessica Englund (Andover, Minn./St. Francis) had 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Kelsie Ammann (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) led the team in assists with five, she also added nine points.
The Vikings will play Crown at home on January 27 at 5:30 p.m. The team is now 4-12 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
