Anderson breaks school record, Blumer comes close at Roy Griak Invite

St. Paul, Minn. - The cross country teams traveled to compete in the annual Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota on Saturday. Both the men’s and women’s team rose to the challenge participating in 6K and 8K races.
 
Freshman Laura Anderson (Hudson, Wis./River Falls) demolished the women’s 6k school record by 58 seconds. She crossed the finish line with a time of 25:28.0. Coming in second for the Vikings was Alissa Sauer (Lismore, Minn. / Adrian) ending her race with a time of 26:36.4. Sophomores Breanne Perlwitz (Walford, Iowa / Prairie) and Breanna Londgren (Charleviox, Mich. / Charleviox) came in with times of 27:48.4, and 28:22.1 respectively.
 
On the men’s side, David Blumer (Lakewood, Colo. / Green Mountain) came very close to a new men’s 8k record falling short by just 14 seconds. Blumer ended his race with a time of 27:13.1. Matthew Behmer (Maple Grove, Minn. / West Lutheran) followed with a time of 29:16.9. Sophomore Luke Meilner (Lewiston, Minn. / Lewiston-Altura) crossed the line with a time or 33:11.9. Bunching all together were three more Vikings Joshua Becker, Robert Ahrens (Andover, Minn. / Andover) and Lukas Rouse (North Mankato, Minn. / Mankato West), the freshman finished with times of 34:59.6, 35:08.8, and 35:10.1 respectively.
 
The next race for BLC is at the Marin Luther Invitational on Saturday.
