Mankato, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran Baseball Team had three players who were voted to the 2011 ABCA NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region Team. Cody Hallahan (Silver Lake, Minn./Minnesota State, Mankato) earned second team honors. Darin Hendley (Nicollet, Minn./Mankato East) and Justin Kohls (Watertown, Minn./Dakota County CC) were named to the third team.
Hallahan wrapped-up his season finishing 5-2 in 10 appearances with a 3.46 ERA. He struck out 59 batters in 54.2 innings pitched, and only walking 10 batters. His opponent's batting average was .271.
Hendley received all-region as a utility player. In nine appearances Hendley was 4-0 with a 1.72 ERA, his batting average against was .227. His opponents were unable to hit a double or triple in his 36.2 innings pitched. At the plate, Hendley led the Vikings with a team high 25 RBI while batting .328. He had 11 doubles and three home runs on the season, with a .990 fielding percentage.
Kohls had a stellar year on the mound remaining undefeated at 9-0 in 12 appearances. He held his opponents batting average to .221. In 57.2 innings pitched he had only 12 earned runs to put his ERA at 1.87.
This is the first time BLC had three players selected to the all-region team. All three men are seniors and finished their last season as a Vikings with a 27-10 overall record, and the best conference record in school history at 18-2.
