Mankato, Minn. – One of Bethany Lutheran’s most decorated baseball players, Cody Hallahan (Silver Lake, Minn./Minnesota State, Mankato), has signed with the Santa Fe Mountain Lions, a professional baseball club in New Mexico.
In his senior year Hallahan was d3baseball.com Second Team Pre-Season All-American before finishing 5-2 in 10 appearances with a 3.46 ERA. He struck out 59 batters in 54.2 innings pitched, while walking only 10. Upon completion of the 2011 year, Hallahan earned ABCA Second Team All-Region honors, and was named UMAC First Team All-Conference.
In his junior year, Hallahan was selected d3baseball.com Second Team All-American after finishing the season nationally ranked in multiple pitching categories. Most notably, Hallahan ranked fifth in strikeouts sitting down 102 batters in 80.1 innings pitched. His 1.79 ERA finished seventh best in the nation. He ended the season 9-2 with the 16th most victories of any pitcher in the nation. In 2010 Hallahan was also awarded First Team All-Region and named UMAC Pitcher of the Year.
The Mountain Lions are a part of the Pecos League, an independent professional baseball league which operates in cities throughout West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
“It’s a great honor for our program to have an athlete graduate and go to the pros,” Head Coach Ryan Kragh said. “It shows the hard work that Cody has put into his game the last few years, and says a lot about our program, where we are headed, and the kind of kids we are producing.”
